I graduated from the Open University in 2021 where I studied Forensic Psychology (BSc). Whilst I was studying, I worked within a forensic inpatient hospital. I initially started off working as a HCA (healthcare assistant) where I worked with a range of individuals. In just under 2 years, I was given an opportunity to work within the psychology team whilst I was working towards my 3rd and final year of my BSc. I was offered a position to be an assistant psychologist following my degree and I continued to work here whilst I started and completed my MSc in Forensic Psychology at Gloucestershire University, which I completed in 2022. This achievement has given me the certification of Stage 1, towards becoming a forensic psychologist. I moved towards working with the Youth Offending Team, but was given the opportunity to work as a CBT trainee. At the end of 2022 I was placed within the STEP Team (Somerset Team for Early Psychosis) in Somerset NHS. I started my CBT training with Exeter University in January 2023. I am now a fully qualified CBT therapist, accredited by the BABCP, specialising in Bipolar and Psychosis. I am currently on my way to start EMDR training.
I enjoy being out and about, mostly in the countryside and I find comfort in being creative, socialising and also having some down time. I am an active reader and enjoy spending spare time delving into a psychological thriller, modern classics and other genres. I find enjoyment in being with friends and family, whether trying new things or classic comfort.
My activities and enjoyments are boosted by my dog Wilbur who would love to attend therapy, but would often prefer the attention to him, so he won’t often be seen.

I graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2020, obtaining a first in Psychology (BSc). Included in my degree, I completed an additional placement year working in a mainstream secondary school, as the role of assistant SEN-CO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). Following this, I trained as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) at Southampton University and graduated with a PG Diploma in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (IAPT). I was working as a PWP for 2 years, with the last 6 months being agency work. This decision has made me confident to adapt and change to new roles efficiently. I have completed my Level 3 Counselling Skills and will go onto Level 4 & 5. At the beginning of 2023 I began working for Yeovil CMHT as a CBT trainee through the University of Exeter. I am now a fully qualified CBT therapist accredited by the BABCP, specialising in Bipolar and Psychosis.
I enjoy keeping busy and active, including regular gym sessions and running. I find great comfort in being creative, and I have really worked at developing my art skills over the past year, attending casual classes. In my spare time, you will find me engrossed in a psychological thriller book or podcast. I take pride in having gregarious nature; therefore I find much enjoyment in socialising and meeting with friends and new people.
Most importantly I have a cat called Mona, who may occasionally attend therapy sessions with us if you so wish (and if she is in the mood).
Our supervision:
At Turning Tide Therapy, we follow BABCP guidelines of engaging in regular supervision. Abbie and El will both be receiving and giving supervision to each other as BABCP members, in line with BABCP supervision guidelines.
Within supervision, case discussions, reflections and the occasional session clips will be used. These are all recommended forms of clinical supervision and will be expected for all CBT therapists to maintain their BABCP membership.
